Calf – Abattoir Plasma

Plasma is collected from animals at USDA-approved abattoir facilities. Material is for research and diagnostic use only.

• Collection: Whole blood is collected specifically for each order to support freshness and project-specific requirements.
• Donor Format: Material is available from a single donor or pooled donors, depending on requested volume and study needs.
• Gender: Gender is unspecified.
• Anticoagulant: Standard anticoagulant ratios and formulations can be found in the Anticoagulant Guide within the Documentation tab.
• Processing: Plasma is manufactured from abattoir animal whole blood collected into a bottle containing a specified anticoagulant. The blood is then centrifuged to remove the red blood cells and buffy coat, then frozen on the same day as collection. Product is tested for pH and total protein (via refractometer). Available as “unfiltered” (as described above), or “filtered”. The filtered product is run through a 0.2µm membrane.
• Quality Control: Standard collection procedures include bacterial contamination testing for 48 hours following collection and prior to shipment. If same-day collection and shipment are preferred, please note this in the Special Instructions field when placing your order. Requests to forgo QC testing are subject to animal availability and order timing.
• Shipping Temperature: Standard shipping temperature is -20°C.
• Packaging: Plasma is shipped in bottles. Charges for box and dry ice apply.
• Shipping: Shipping estimates are available prior to order placement. Customers may provide their preferred carrier and account number for shipment on their own account. Domestic and international shipping options are available.
• Customization: Collection, processing, packaging, anticoagulants, and testing specifications can be customized upon request.
